This course focuses on the recognition, proper pronunciation, and characteristics of letters, the major rules of Tajweed, and the principles of Tilawah through extensive in-class practice and mentoring from the classroom teacher. It is highly recommended for all levels but mandatory for beginners & children.

Juzu’ Amma First:
This course reinforces Tajweed and Tilawah skills learned in Stage 1 (Nooraniyyah) through recitation from Surah An-Naas to Al-Bayyinah. The focus is accurate recitation: clear articulation (makharij), correct letter characteristics (sifaat), and consistent rule application (ahkaam).

The teacher writes verses (ayat) on the board, then explains and applies all relevant Tajweed/Tilawah concepts to strengthen students’ recitation and understanding.

Adults receive surah copies without symbols/vowels for in-class analysis. The teacher models proper recitation, practices with students, corrects errors, and assigns home practice for the next class.

The course emphasizes open-book recitation with proper Tajweed and Tilawah rather than memorization, unless the student can manage both.

Assessments:
• Ongoing in-class assessment with informal feedback.
• Midterm and final assessments.
• Minimum 70% required to pass; missing 20% of classes may result in not passing.

Prerequisite: Stage 1 (Nooraniyyah)

Talqeen begins from Juz’ Amma and continues upwards. After completing Juz’ Amma, students read Juz’ Tabarak, followed by Juz’ 28, 27, and 26, in that order.

Once students have mastered the correct pronunciation and rules of Tajweed and demonstrated independence and fluency in reading Qur’aan, they are now ready for Hifth/memorization of the Noble Qur’aan and are capable of maintaining and constantly improving their Tajweed/Tilawah skills.

In this course, with their teacher’s mentorship, students independently prepare assigned surah/ayaat and present them from memory while their teacher evaluates them. The teacher may recite for the student (Talqeen) if needed to ensure the quality of recitation is maintained and review rules when necessary.

Assessment

* Teachers will assess students weekly during each recitation and provide them with informal feedback on their Tajweed and memorization of the Qur’an.

* Each term, there are two formal evaluations (midterm & final) on memorization and Tajweed.

* To pass the recitation/memorization courses students must earn a minimum of 70% in each category (Tajweed & Hifth).

Prerequisite Course: Successful completion of Stage 1 & Stage 2.
