We are excited to announce our Izzah 2023 Qur’an Memorization and Tajweed competition!
Our competition aims to encourage students and strengthen our connection to the Holy Qur’an.
The competition is divided by age group:
First round for group 1 (Boys & Girls 6-12 yrs) May 13th 4pm-7pm
First round for group 2 (+13 Sisters only) May 14th 2pm-5pm
General Rules:
The competition is held In-person at our center and is open to everyone in Ottawa & Gatineau
Participants must be reciting using Hafs recitation

Students can participate in three categories: 1. Hifth(memorization) 2. Tilawah( recitation) or 3. Nooraniyyah
Each category includes different levels of difficulty and students are allowed to choose any level depending on the their capabilities
Participants are allowed to combine Nooraaniyyah category with memorization OR recitiation
Students are not allowed to compete in both Memorization and Recitation categories. they must choose one of the two
All categories will include tafseer questions based on Material that will be provided to students before the competition and students get time to study it
Early entry Deadline is April 11th
Judging & Rounds:
The competition will be held in 2 rounds.
The First round will begin for everyone on the dates above. After judging the first round, Judges will determine, based on score, who will proceed to the second and Final round on May 21st. Students in the final round will compete for a prize in their category
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ Said:
الذي يقرأ القرآن وهو ماهر به مع السفرة الكرام البررة، والذي يقرأ القرآن ويتتعتع فيه وهو عليه شاق له أجران
“The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels), and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, is doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
